Foundation

Dear Foundation Parents and Guardians,

Foundation students have settled well into their classes and are developing confidence and independence in their routines. During term one, we learnt about our family, the activities we enjoy together and celebrations shared across our different cultures.

Students are developing their literacy and numeracy skills and have enjoyed going to the library. Well done to the students who are reading at home and practising the M100W on a daily basis. Thank you to parents for your ongoing support with these important activities.

Foundation and year six students have begun the Better Buddies Program. They have enjoyed their buddy meet and greet, planting seeds in our school garden and designing a friendship poster. We are looking forward to our upcoming Better Buddies picnic where students are encouraged to wear purple or yellow and bring in their favourite teddy bear or soft toy to join in on the day’s adventures.

Foundation students attended the Responsible Pet Ownership incursion in term one. Students participated in a role-play where they learnt how to approach a dog safely and how to respond safely when approached by an angry dog. The Mind and Body incursion was enjoyed by all! Students practiced breathing techniques and relaxation exercises. They also learnt about the importance of hygiene, rest and eating healthy for their health and well-being. We encourage parents to reinforce these important practices at home.

We wish everyone a safe and relaxing break and look forward to an eventful term two.

Yours in Education,

Foundation Team.
